The Problem We Set Out to Solve
In Zimbabwe, every VAT-registered business is required by law to use a fiscal device to transmit transaction data to ZIMRA's Fiscalisation Data Management System (FDMS) in real time.
For years, this meant one thing: buying expensive hardware. Physical fiscal devices costing $500+ each, proprietary thermal printers, specialised paper rolls, and technician visits that could take weeks to schedule. When devices broke down — and they often did — businesses faced penalties, downtime, and compliance chaos.
We saw a different future. A future where fiscal compliance runs on software, not boxes. Where going live takes 48 hours, not 48 days. Where a business in Bulawayo has the same access to cutting-edge tax technology as one in London or Nairobi.

Our Journey So Far

The Idea
Recognised the pain of legacy fiscal hardware in Zimbabwe. Began R&D on a cloud-native Virtual Fiscal Device (VFD) platform as an alternative to physical boxes.
Building & Testing
Developed the core VFD software engine. Built API integrations for Sage, QuickBooks, and SAP. Conducted beta testing with select businesses in Bulawayo.
ZIMRA Approval
Received official ZIMRA approval as a compliant virtual fiscalisation provider. Became one of the first software-only solutions approved under the VAT Act.
Launch & Scale
Officially launched Fiscal Shift to the market. Onboarding businesses across retail, hospitality, manufacturing, and professional services. Beginning expansion across Southern Africa.
